Lima Travel Tour Alternative & Best Tours The coast of Peru has not been arqueologicaly explored until recently so we have not been considering Lima a very ancient settlement which is evident by the remaining ruins of huacas that are being restored nowadays such as in the case of the huaca Pukllana in Miraflores. In the near south we can visit Pachakamaq and witness one of the Inca constructions on the coast which was part of the Icham nation in the 5th century. The building has a view of the sea and two islands which offer stories to different myths about them. Two hundred kilometers north we can visit a recent discovery of Caral where the archeologists calculate that it must have been there 5 thousand years ago. The city deserved to be visited in its historical center and remember the it was walled until 1850 so the city keeps much of its Spanish flavor where you can have a chance to taste its gastronomy and a sip of excellent pisco. Its gastronomy combines the Andean flavours, with the afroperuvian cusine to which we now add the chinese and Japanese that have the advantage of a very rich ocean and its variety of sea life. We should not miss the museums, specially the one about “Anthropology, Archeology and History of Perú” that shows the art píeces of the prehispanic ceramic and textiles, especially those of Paracas which were used for burying the dead and preserves the finest fiber even to be woven. Other attraction is the Olive tree farm in San Isidro and enjoy the nights in Barranco.
