Circuit 4 Lagoons Circuit 4 lagoons: Ecological Tour Near Cusco travelling south, after passing Andahuaylillas, Urcos and Chuquicahuana Bridge we find ourselves in the provinces of Acomayo and Canas that will show us their four lakes: Pomacanchis, Acopia, Asnaqocha and Pampamarca. The lake of Pomacanchis stands at 3,702 meters above sea level with 22.5 kilometers in size. It is the largest of the four and belongs to the district of Sangarara, well known for being where the revolution of Tupac Amaru II began in 1780. Beside it we can witness the arqueological remains of Chaka. Next to the town of Acopia is the house of the famous Valicha (Valeria Huillca Condori), a woman whose inspiration composed the emblematic song since 1945 of Cusco and surroundings. There is a lake with that name with abundant wild ducks, pelicans at 3,711 meters. Asnacocha is the third lake and the fourth lake is called Pampamarca or Tungasuca at 3,775 and 3,750 meters. For unexplainable reasons Asnacocha holds salty water while Pampamarca holds sweet water. This is an ideal route for mountain bikes and navigation in the lakes with adequate boats. It is important to take note that the circuit is run by the farmers themselves, which in this way, contribute to the expansion of visitors in their area. The whole circuit take for about 7 hours from Cusco.
